Mystery petrol smell
Hi all. My wife used the car on two different occasions last week and on start up, there appears to be a strong smell of petrol coming into the cabin. It went once the car has warmed up. I tried to replicate the fault today but all was ok. No petrol leaking inside and no loss of fuel. I seem to thin...

Re: Loss of power since replacement coil?
woooah! I took the car out after being in at Sinclair VW today. Although they said they did nothing i'm sure they must of at least plugged it in on a computer and reset the codes. Its running 100 times better now (at idle speeds) and is at least twice as fast. I floored it on the duel carriageway by...

Re: Loss of power since replacement coil?
Car went in to vw garage today. They put a diagnostic on the car and its safe to say there are now no faults. However, they did mention that they couldn't see an issue with the loss of power. This is the strange part. My wife went to drop the car off and it was the same, a bit laggy in lifting off. ...

Re: Loss of power since replacement coil?
Right, Just got the box from the car as Sinclair VW said they want me to leave the box and part with the RAC report in the car for Tues. The part number he put was:- 036 905 715 F (its got a =A written by the side of it) and not 06A905115D like 9N3Turbo posted. Its also in a Volkswagen Group box. Qu...

Re: Loss of power since replacement coil?
His computer def. didn't spend that amount of time when it was plugged in. Maybe it could be a combination of the wrong coil with the software?
I'll post up the actual part that he's given tommor. It will be interesting to see what they diagnose at the vw garage on tues!?

Re: Loss of power since replacement coil?
Yer thanks mate. Although I have wondered as it wasn't the exact part maybe that is why there doesn't seem enough power as before. Its a genuine VAG part but the RAC guy had to ring through as he said he wasn't sure if it was "compatible'. They said it was ok but clearly isn't the direct replac...

Re: Loss of power since replacement coil?
Thanks. That kind of makes sense. The RAC guy only used the computer to diagnose and must of cleared the fault but as I said, as the car sounded ok, he unplugged the computer and went on his way. I only really noticed the difference when I was going up a hill and it was like driving my old Fiesta Mk...

Re: Loss of power since replacement coil?
Yer, the light has gone out now. I did wonder if it was running in limp mode though. Although normally that is cleared by turning the car off and on again? It idles exactly the same as what it used to (just below 1000rpm). The pain in the ass is the fact that it appears as if its behaving like a tur...

Loss of power since replacement coil?
Hi guys. We were traveling to Mid Wales on Monday when our 2006 1.4, 100bhp started stuttering. After about a minute, the engine management light came on and we had to pull over. I called VW assistance and the RAC guy came out and diagnosed the car as a misfire and coil number 2 was gone. He replace...

Re: Regular Polish
Like the other comments I'd have to say Ollie_R is talking nonsense. I've just applied AutoGlym Ultra Deep Shine today on Olympic blue paint. The result is 100 times better. Also adding to what Ollie_R said that this is used to apply on top of Super Resin Polish, this also is incorrect. You can buy ...

San Marino Refurb
Hi guys, I'm looking to refurb my San marino's. They are not in mega bad condition, however for some reason, just the rear ones have quite a bit of pitting on the inside of the rim. As its a split rim I may get away with just fixing the inner section as the "wheel trim part" is fine on all...
