Re: 6c GTI lowering springs
You can fit the 35/55 springs on the GTI, but I wouldn't advise it. The GTI is already lower than other Polo's, so the 25/40s would be about right. Eibach do a similar kit that I had fitted to my old GTI, slightly less drop than the H&Rs, but I didn't want anything too low. Don't forget an align...

Re: Advice on cracked bumper cost
I've just paid £480 to have a BMW front bumper repaired and resprayed at a good independent bodyshop, and that was with me removing and refitting it.... All said, £400 to remove, repair, respray and refit sounds ok to me. Congrats on the impending arrival anyway, ours arrived just over two years ago...

Re: GTI 6r springs
I'd say the GTI springs are at least 15/20mm lower than an SE.
I fitted my old stock GTI springs to a friends 6R 1.2 TDI SE, and that's what it dropped by, and was level front to back.

Re: Emissions scandle. Do people think the TSI is next?
I'm completely sure that VW aren't the last manufacturer to get shamed by this. Of course, this doesn't change the fact that what they did was very wrong, but I'm quite sure that other manufacturers are just as sneaky as VW have been. It's interesting to hear about the idea of all the 2.0 TDIs bein...

Re: Adding GTI side badge emblem to car
I added the side badges to my 6R GTI, the Golf ones as it happens as the 6C was still not on sale. I used a piece of string and tape across both door handles to work out badge placement, as you say, the badges point down a little. I used photoshop on a 6C side picture to work out the line goes from ...

Re: GTI Running costs
I think you'd have to be driving it very hard constantly or spending your entire time stuck in city centre traffic to get less than 30mpg.Oscar78 wrote:

Re: GTI Running costs
I don't know if the new GTI is better or worse on fuel than the 6R version, but I average 36mpg in mine. So, 20,000 miles would need 555 gallons of petrol. 20p per mile for 20,000 business miles gets you £4k a year. Petrol prices are low at the moment, but assuming £1.25 a litre, that's about £3.3k ...

Re: New Engine
A 55k mile car with a 20k engine and gearbox in (for example) will still be valued as a 55k car really. If anything, it will raise questions in buyers minds as to why the engine was changed and 'to prevent problems in the future' probably wouldn't be believed by many! As for the Blue GT engine swap,...

Re: New GTI
It certainly seems a bit odd, all this uncertainty around delivery dates. A friend of mine ordered a new BMW last week, the day after the order was placed he got a call from the dealer telling him what date his car would be delivered to the showroom. That's a built to order car too, not one already ...

Re: tyre pressure blue gt 2015
The tyre pressures are listed for a reason, yes, but unfortunately those reasons appear to be solely in the domain of VW. We're all just guessing as to why, although I think higher tyre pressures give lower rolling resistance which aids fuel economy which is why I think the BGT's are so high. It all...

Re: tyre pressure blue gt 2015
We're talking about Polo's here folks, not an F1 car... On my GTiI with the 215/40/17 tyres, I run 38 front and 34 rear. Try those as a start point, if you feel they're too soft, put a bit more air in. Or, start with the 44/41 on the stickers of some Polo's, and if it's too hard, lower the pressures...

Re: Steering wheel differences
I swapped a friends plastic steering wheel for a leather one in her 6R, along with the gear knob, and although a similar thickness the leather one is so much nicer to hold and look at.

Re: Stage 1 polo gti 6r
I think that if you've got a good one, then the engines are quite strong, remapped and with more frequent oil changes they should be fine. The weak point from a tuning point of view is the auto box. Mine was running a tuning box since 35000 miles, the TMC one, which was a great bit of kit and I neve...

Re: Non-genuine cable for VCDS coding?
I really don't see the logic in just because you're not going to use a genuine cable enough to 'justify it', it's ok to effectively steal the software? There are two ways I can think of that aren't illegal. First, you ask on here if somebody with a genuine cable/software who lives near you would be ...

Change the pollen/cabin filter, it's usually that that gets mildew in it and starts to honk.
