mk2 breadvan 1.0l carb problems

Post by duboyer »

hey ,

just bought a 1986 1.0l breadvan , and the auto choke butterfly valve is fooooooked , so im am looking for a new carb if anyone has one spare ?

now when i removed the airfilter for the first time it was rammajammed with oill , and pools of oil on the top of the carb , is this due to a fualty carb or is it something more seriouse ?!

Any advice please let me know

( ive not heard it running before anybody asks on that )

Hi mate,
Oil in the air filter is not normal and would indicate an oil breather problem. Check the rubber hose that fixes to the underside of the air filter housing is clear.
This runs down to a breather that fixes in to the block, these get blocked. I don't know what theyre like to clean/ replace though.
Good luck, Mark.

cheers mark
with the carb off the breather pipe and pot on the back of the block was accessable. i removed the pot and it had some solids in it but not loads, and the breather pipe wasnt too bad either , but orderd a new pot to replace ive read they are a b*stard to fit lol.
