Couple of problems :<

Post by Coma »

Any hints...
1.My Speedo doesnt work currently. . .
However miles still go up and the rev meter works..
Im thinking loose wireing, though the glass on it is f****d, so im thinking of replacing the whole unit.
Any ideas?.

2.I need a new window mech, how easy is it to fit elec windows?
Also anyone got any pictures of fitting a new manual one?
Will be taking a trip down to the scrappy next week

3. Finally I've lost 5th gear, litterally it ran away.
Nah im kidding, She goes into 5th no problem, but wont stay there for long.
I'm thinking the gear linkage might be loose?.
Any ideas/similar problems?

Thanks, Paul.

for the no1 and 3 just get a diagnosis check from a garage, thats the best way so your dont waste money on parts and time doing it yourself. then for no. 2 no point going manual elec's better so jus find the most common problem to break on them, go t scrappers get the part or the whole lot and re-fit it. problems should all be sorted

yea as l0rne said,

no1 not 100% but could be the wiring or the actual sensor for it could be gubbed, so check tht out

no2 depends on the bit you need, id tak your doorcard off and inspect, elec windows arent too hard to install, just the wiring up to the loom and fitting buttons, not the hardest of DIY jobs, possibly a post on here somewhere on how to do it properly.

no3 5th gear went on my polo, and hopefully not for you, but my gearbox went and clutch, but id get the gearbox and the linkage looked at, seems like some common problems youve got, like most of us lol

good luck in getting them sorted, and if this helps :)
