Sach Clutch - Help
Gearbox is on the verge of going so i'm getting that replaced next Friday . Original has lasted exactly 70K
Got the recon box coming from 1st Gear Transmissions with the uprated bearings, with SS nuts & bolts instead of weak rivets etc.
Now I need to get a new clutch ordered ASAP!
I'm looking for a price on the SACH clutch so I need the exact part number and a recommened shop/dealer to get it from.
Can anybody help me please ?
Gearbox - £495.00
Oil - £15.00
Fitting - £135.00
Clutch - £????
Cheers
Ben

Bad crack about the gearbox Ben, but good on ya for getting it sorted ASAP.
I've heard good things about 1st Gear Transmissions. Mate got his Arosa gearbox recon'd there and swears by them.
Are you giving them your gearbox as well? Seems a wee bit pricey like. But anywho, get the SACH clutch from GSF!
GSF No: R-620306100
Part No: 3000-581-001

Re: Sach Clutch - Help
Cheers Emma Nice one!
Iye bit gutted about the timing of it but its something that was always going to happen eventually.
1st Gear Transmissions offer free fitting so it would normally be £495 all in (bar the clutch) but as they are based in Kent its one hell of a treck for me to make and I dont want to run the risk of the box going totally on the way down.
£135 for fitting at my local garage for around 3-4 hours labour is a pretty decent price though
Its gone from fine to f***ked in the space of 5 days but thats just unlucky I guess.
How much are the Sach clutches roughly?
Ben

unlucky dude.
Apparently GSF do not stock the SACH clutch kit anymore....thats what I was told when I got mine replaced. They only have the LUK ones now which is what I brought when my clutch went last summer.
GSF part for the LUK clutch is:
GSF No:189VG0630
Part number: R-62018400
Price was £94.12 (which included 10% discount)
Nice clutch and light as a feather. Get the clutch cable from VW directly -its £35 and jobs a good'un..

i'll have a look into the Sach & LUK clutches over the weekend, I just need to get one delivered before Thursday so I do have a few days to get something sorted.
Not sure if anybody else supplies SACH clutch kits but that LUK Clutch seems well priced at £94.12.

Re: Sach Clutch - Help
LUK clutches from GSF are absolutely shocking. They use a plastic release bearing which will not last under stress - trust me.
I was so unimpressed, I took it back and got a VW one direct from TPS for just under £140 - worth every penny in my opinion, plus a two year warranty.
Also, did they use the genuine VW gearbox oil? If not, change it!

I bought the SACHs clutch kit from Andrew Page on Thursday. Was around £60 - was expecting to pay a lot more.

What brand of gearbox oil should I be buying?
Do GSF still sell SACH clutches Alex?

VW OEM oil. Get it from TPS
As for the clutch, not for the GTI. They only do the sachs 190mm ones now. Id get a genuine one in all honesty!
