Disc sizes

Post by Lefty1 »

Hi can anyone tell me the exact sizes of the front and rear disc on the gti, I know they are 256x25mm on the front but I also need the centre bore sizes as I'm looking at buying some updated discs.
Cheers

No worries mate :)
What brakes are you going for then? A popular front upgrade is the 280mm G60 Golf & Corrado discs
You will need the G60 carriers for this upgrade however (standard GTI callipers are fine though)

Apologies for Hi-Jacking thread, but do the G60 Discs and Carriers, with the GTi Calipers still fit under the stock 15" BBS Alloys??

Should do.

The Golf mk III had them, and had 15s as standard. Fabia (old car) can run 288mm under 15s, so should be fine.

If not, I'm going to need some new wheels when I finally fit mine!

This may sound like a daft question.. But..

With the G60 Discs and Carries.. And the Standard GTi Calipers..

Which Brake Pads do you use..?? G60 Pads or GTi Pads..??

Get GTI pads, because G60 pads are thicker and you end up pushing the piston far back just to fit them in. Also, G60 Brake upgrade fits fine under most 15". I'm rocking 15" 7j Lensos.

Just an FYI for anyone reading this thread:

The G60 (And from other VAG cars too) 280mm Carriers are a DIRECT fit to the GTI.
I'd recommend buying new caliper carrier bolts. As these need to be torqued to 125 NM!

I used the GTI caliper and GTI pads, as recommended, as these fit perfectly.
The caliper guide pin bolts should be re-newed too.

And.. This set-up DOES fit under the standard 15" BBS wheels.

Hope this helps.

I'm looking at ebc ultimax disc and green stuff pads. Just brought some stainless braided hoses and dot 5.1 fluid. Did look at the g60 conversions but didnt fancy it.
