I am back! Well my partner is.....

Post by mboyle4 »

Hi guys some of you may know of me, I spent a couple of years on here between 2009/10 when I owned this beautiful 6n2 gti:

I then moved on in 2010 and purchased this rx8 which recently appeared in Autocar Magazine:

But now im back :-) my partner has just left a deposit down on this:

I should have really asked this before but if anyone knows anything about the polo turbo above then do let me know. I was wondering about cambelt change on it as we have no evidence of this being done. It drove fantasticly and felt a lot quicker than my old 6n2gti did but so it should I guess. Condition was really good in and out and we collect on sunday :-) My partners very excited and its made me want another VDUB for myself to be honest!

VWUK Recommend the cambelt to be done at 60k or 4 years, whichever comes first...so if there's no evidence of it being done then it's probably best to get it done fairly soon :) They aren't too bad to do I don't think :)

Who bought the 6N2, I remember seeing it on here when I first started looking around, would be nice if it's still been looked after

I sold the polo to a guy in Leicester who I still speak to occasionaly but he sold it on just before Christmas so I have no idea who has it now. It was a super example with leather, sat nav, low miles etc. I loved it and never had a singal problem not even a gearbox problem. Any idea on cost for the cambelt change on the turbo? Would probably go to an independant if VW charge the earth.

Your use of 'my partner' indicates a possible sausagefest. :)

Hi mate before you pick it up check for any signs of worn gearbox synchro's, i.e crunching in 2nd or 3rd.

Cheers

Didnt realise this model suffered from gearbox problems aswell! It certainly didnt feel like it had any problems gearbox related. We have arranged for the cambelt to be done now aswell prior to collection :D Any part numbers for the GTI mats?

Collecting this weekend, very excited! Just wondering on the off chance if anybody has a spare gti wheel and tyre? Condition is not to important, would just like to get hold of a cheap one to keep as a spare. However would a gti wheel and tyre fit in the bootwell ok or can you only fit a space saver? It curently has very few tools and one of those crappy tyre repair kit jobs. Cheers
