oooh i need to read things better... but the link was just to check the size of studs etc are correct... just need to find them in either 16's or 17's hmmm

Laura, the middle number is the height of the tyre sidewall and is a percentage of the 215mm width, so...

40% of 215mm = 86mm. :)

I think you are getting the middle number mixed up with the ET offset for the alloys which is a completely different thing.

Standard offset for a 7" wide 17" diameter alloy is ET46.

ahhh i see, now looking at the polo GTI, the monza are 71\2jX17 215/40/17 so would they fit my car?

yeahh rarely i go to trafford center though.... i have heard there is a meet at cripsy creams on 15th april?? ment to be jap cars but i'm gate crashing with my polo.... (been confirmed i'm oki to go) anyone else going??

There is a few of us that normally meet up there on random nights. . . And use to have a big meet there but the big meets now in Salford as Costco kept kicking us off.

the 215 is the width of the tyre the 40 is the hight of the sidewall of the tyre the 17 is the size of the tire.

so the smaller the middle number the lower profile the tyre is, on the 17" gti wheel the profile is 45 if that helps.

Well finally at last i have just ordered my first mod.... wind deflectors woop!!

so just got to wait for them to arrive then fit them :)

Woo :) got mine last week couldn't get the clips in tho no matter how hard I pushed, so just gonna tape them, but they are holding quite well with out .
