Not sure if this will be any help...
I havent got a mount as such, but I have the VW Ipod cable that lets you play/charge your Ipod. The cable runs from the back of the headunit into the little cubby hole underneath the lights switch through the fuse box. I think its quite a good place, as its not very visable, and you dont need a mount as you can change tracks etc through the headunit.

Mine's in the glovebox too, wire tucks in the corner of the hinge like this one:

Or you could drill a hole like Si did:

How hard is this to do?

I bought myself one of those tape things for my ipod, but my cassette player is broke, just says disc error when i put in any tape, with or without a cable.

Also, the sound quality is better this way isnt it?

Thanks

Yes the quality is full, as appose to the dodgy quality you get out of a cassette player. Dead easy mate, just pop your headunit out and run the lead !

Too seconds if you have the right keys! Are you referring to an OEM unit? or aftermarket?

Indeed. Just need two removal keys (halfords, vw, screwfix etc), or two strips of credit card or similar cut like this:
