Meister's Black GTI 5Dr - The Git

Post by hornmeister »

Just thought I'd say hello. This is my first ever from new car affectionately know as "The Git". He's 3 days old today.
Pearlescent black and reversing sensors are the only options. 2013 spec.
Not planning on changing much, maybe a stubby ariel.

Thanks. I've decided to keep it as clean as possible. I Might even debadge it. I'm also considering having the wheels coated/painted black, but not sure on that one.

I have already taken off the dealer stickers and got a small black tax disk holder on the way.

Will get a GTI footrest as shown in other threads here as I think that finishes the cabin nicely.
This forum is a great source of info.

GTI footrest installed as well as black minimalist tax disk holder the dealer fitted on was massive and stuck out like a sore thumb.
Footrest pictures to follow.

The git is going in for a checkup tomorrow as the bluetooth sound has never worked and the steering is squeaky near full lock.

Looks great. My personal opinion is that black wheels have been done to death now. Stick to what you currently have as they look really smart.

Cheers, agree on the black wheels. Stock were a bit too bling but are growing on me.

I've finally installed the footrest. Was a simple 10 min job with a kit from amazon/ebay £15. 1 plastic nut secures it at the top, offer up the metal cover to the rest and drill the 3 securing holes then replace. I added a small bit of red plastic behind the GTI because I'm a tart

I've also ordered a plate from the DVLA. Anyone have any recomendations for makers. I was thinking Demonplates who seem decent but I'm not sure if I should go with a plain simple one or one of the raised letter versions?

Looks good man!

Number plate wise I was going to get demon plates to do mine but I was in a rush so went to halfrauds - was around £30 front and back the only thing I was concerned about was the makers mark e.g "Evans halshaw, lookers, inchcape" and being halfords I thought it was going to be a mess but they actually brand it with a tiny translucent one so its barely noticeable... Yet legal, I just had 3D lettering for mine.

The raised lettering does look good though on the guys who have it :)
