Deactivating DRL on Polo 6R

Hi I was reading the manual and it gives 2 options for disabling the daytime running lights in the polo!
Remove the fuse......but they don't tell you which one!!
Or
A weird procedure of holding the indicator/headlight flash back and down and then turn the ignition on and off for approx 3 seconds......

I have tried all sorts of permutations and can't get the lights off!

Yeah I am aware of the "bend pin 3 back" but I'd rather try and sort this out by other means 1st. Or again is this an option for the VDRS coding??

You can just put insulation tape over pin 3, and this will disable the DRLs on the headlights - sidelights stay on though.

Yeah thanks I understood that but I was wanting them off completely.

Another core for buying the VCDS cable as the list of stuff I want to re-code seems to be getting longer and longer!!

Anybody confirm you can switch the DRL off completely using the VCDS?

You can only deactivate it via VCDS on pre 2011 polo 6Rs

It became eu law that they must not be able to be disabled after that.

The odd procedure should work on your one no problem.

Has anybody managed to actually et the "odd procedure" to work?

If they have an they confirm it in an idiots guide?

eg 1. pull back main beam flash
2. Put left indicator on
3. Switch ignition key on etc etc

I have tried following the procedure as per they y'all and nothing!!

i also asked dealer when in for service and they said no
