Do the driveshafts or more specifically the joint next to the gearbox on the offside driveshaft wear? And if so would this droning noise be a symptom?

Are the driveshaft's the same for all versions of the polo? will a 6n fit a 6n2 or are they specific?

I know what you mean about the bearing but the sound and pitch of the noise hasn't altered since changing the bearing so I assume it's not that. If a CV had gone i'd expect the noise to change on cornering which it doesn't and there is no clicking either. Both CV's are clean with no breaks/leaks and ...
