Coolant temp up and down... but new gen stat
Had a fun issue with the Polo, it started to show a stat failure so I changed the stat... all good in the hood, temp holds steady at 90....fast forward about 6 months, and it starts again with the temp dropping on longer higher speed runs, (50mph or so cruise and if the outside temp was down around ...

Re: Starter clicks twice then nothing after coil pack failure
Wasn’t being beaten by this, and after some playing last night with firstly a booster pack and then secondly a jump lead... I have found the following. The garage that did the gearbox seem to have some how buggered the earth from the block to the battery. As adding a second earth from the block back...

Starter clicks twice then nothing after coil pack failure
Got a fun one. 2001 gti, manual. It had an electrical issue with the coil pack, basically it shorted internally it seems and started to melt some of the earth wire from the coil pack plug. It damaged 3 of the plugs in the loom where the earth runs back to the chassis, the plug on the actual coil pac...

Re: ABS not working on 1 wheel
Well I think it’s the module that’s playing up. Scanned it a little while ago and it had an implausible signal code. Can’t remember which but.. Tried to bleed the front brake it was clear. Then tried to bleed it via VCDs which has a bleed setting. And the pedal goes odd...it doesn’t seem to feel rig...

Re: ABS not working on 1 wheel
I’ll have a scan tomorrow, hopefully it’s not the unit as seems to work on the other wheels. May try bleeding it all again too just encase it’s that.

ABS not working on 1 wheel
Friends polo has an odd one, the ABS light seems to randomly come one but clears if the car is turned off and back on, and last time I checked it didn’t store a fault. However when I have tried the brakes, if braking hard enough for ABS it locks the front left, and the pedal sinks. You can feel the ...

Re: Gearbox or clutch? Loud clicking noise
Well I have been given an update on this, haven't seen the car but i am confused from what I have been told. The drivers side wheel bearing has been changed, the garage said that is the one that was shot. I could have sworn it would have been the passenger one as it rumbled more when loaded going ro...

Re: Gearbox or clutch? Loud clicking noise
It’s all gears. This morning it was quiet until the car had warmed up, and this maybe related may not... but after some right hand corners (which is where the left hand front wheel bearing rumbles more)... I’m hoping it’s the bearing if I’m honest! The clutch is under warranty and is due a check in ...

Gearbox or clutch? Loud clicking noise
Quick question. I know the 6N2 gti boxes aren’t great but got an odd issue with a friends GTi. It’s done 81k and had a new clutch (valeo one) at 78K, it appears to have developed a new noise, like a chattering noise which is noticeable with the windows down. My first though was gearbox but it doesn’...

Just gone for a full new fan, it was £35 or so and a lot less faffing.
Will report back if this sorts it next week, either way thanks for all the help! Very appreciated

Re: A/C fans not working
Well had a look and a play, and the motors dead. High speed when direct to the battery it runs flat out, connect 2 and 3 to the battery and nothing at all! So ordered a new fan and I will fit it next week one lunch as it doesn’t look too hard (famous last words!). Then regard the AC and hopefully th...
