Re: 6C front passenger door won't open from inside
Sorry to break board etiquette and bump my post, but just wondering if anyone has any ideas? Or if there's anything I can check myself before I take it to the garage? I keep taking my car to the garage for things that end up not being broken, so I'd like to avoid doing that again if I've just ...

6C front passenger door won't open from inside
As per title - any ideas?
Potentially relevent: was sat in the car at the allotment supervising the hubby when I decided I'd see what my alarm sounded like. So I locked the car with me in it and waved my hand in front of the sensors above the rear view mirror. Alarm sounds noisy. After that, the ...

Re: How to check if A/C is functioning
Thanks everyone for your input. The car is back with me, recharged with a dye added and blowing cold air. I'm not sure I like the garage's approach though, as they said to drive around for two weeks and then if it starts not to cool properly again, bring it in.
That sounds stupid. What if it's a ...

Re: How to check if A/C is functioning
l3rady - interesting! That may well be it. Or rather, I hope that's it so that all I've got to pay for is the a/c service and not however many hundreds of pounds it'll cost for a new condenser, or however long VW would need my car for to take the dash out and replace the evaporator under warranty ...

Re: How to check if A/C is functioning
Thanks Rum, always appreciate your knowledgeable input! If it's not covered under warranty I'll definitely be taking it elsewhere, although presumably if I can find an a/c specialist within 5 miles to give me a lower quote, I can take that back to VW and they'll have to match it. We'll see how it ...

Re: How to check if A/C is functioning
VW have reported that the system is completely empty of gas. They're telling me it's likely a stone that's put a hole in the condenser. They've therefore done an a/c service to refill it and added dye to something, and I'm to drive around with the air con on for two weeks to see if they can find ...

Re: How to check if A/C is functioning
Thanks Rum. I annoyingly haven't had time to buy any sort of thermometer (not sure the thing we stick in the chicken will be any good!), but I'll have a week or so to check it myself if they say nothing's wrong. I'm pretty sure that after 30 minutes of driving with it set to the coldest temp (manual ...

How to check if A/C is functioning
Hi all,
My '64 6C is under warranty for a few more weeks after buying it from VW used last summer. The aircon was serviced and regassed just before I bought it. I've since done only around 3200 miles in it, rarely using the aircon except to help demist the windscreen when I've got in the car still ...

Re: 6C '64 plate service schedule
Thanks Rum. In fact, the A/C isn't operating correctly I don't think, so I've told them they need to look at it whilst it's under warranty. It was regassed just before I bought it (as I test drove it during a heatwave and it was bloody useless and hissing), but during our last hot spell a few ...

Re: 6C '64 plate service schedule
Something funny has being going on, unless that car had exceeded the 10K in 12 months on one occasion, that car was first reg'd in Sept 2014, so if the annual mileage was always less than 10K, service 1 was due in/by Sep 2015, service 2 was due in/by Sep 2016, service 3 was due in/by Sep 2017 ...

Re: 6C '64 plate service schedule
It’s possible the dealer you bought the car from only did an oil change service (minor service) last year, in which case if you’re on the time and distance service regime (recommended if you’re doing lots of short journeys and / or less than 10k miles per year), it’d be due a major service this ...

6C '64 plate service schedule
Hello experienced Polo owners (and generally people that care about their cars, which I have not been until this car!),
I bought an approved used '64 plate (September 2014) (6C) Polo from VW nearly a year ago, and it's now time for its service and MOT.
VW are trying to convince me it's due a major ...

Re: Tyre Pressure Loss Indicator
og77, remember that there are no TPMS sensors fitted to these cars, the TPMS uses the output from the ABS wheel sensors and if one of them was faulty, even intermittently, I'd expect you to have mentioned an ABS failure warning being given out as well. Hopefully it is just down to the usual "once ...

Re: Tyre Pressure Loss Indicator
Thanks for this. Got a compressor with gauge that plugs in to 12v socket. Pressures were fine even after a week sat in the garage, so I reset the indicator. Will wait and see if/when it happens again as I now suspect a faulty sensor.
