Re: 6n2 polo cuts out when driving

Keep us updated, and I think the sound is normal mate but I could be wrong. I remember mine doing that, at least. It might be something to do with throttle body alignment after you take battery out

Re: 6n2 1.4 16v Wont Turn Over

Ah yes, you don't wanna end up with the engine on the floor. Maybe raising it from gearbox side might give you some more clearance. Whatever floats your boat mate. I think diesel is the most effective as long as you wait long enough. I poured all sorts of lubricants down there when mine seized. Afte...

Re: 6n2 1.4 16v Wont Turn Over

Sounds like engine has seized. Get a deep offset ring spanner to get onto the crankshaft pulley bolt. I think it's size 19. Taking driver side wheel off will help. You might need a jack plus wood block under the sump and remove engine mount to drop the engine a bit in order to get to the pulley bolt...

Re: 6n2 polo cuts out when driving

If youre saying that you can crank the engine from the key, and it seems like its about to start before it cuts out, I have a feeling it might be a faulty immobiliser or connection. You can check by removing the trims and plastics below steering wheel and above driver footwell, theyre held with torx...

Re: Lambda sensor

alright, ive been looking, cheapest bosch ones ive seen are around £65 but it should be worth it. My car has had some bad idling/loss of power problems, but the only code it throws up is this sensor plus dash light. This sensor must be really worn out, but I did drive about with it like that for age...

Lambda sensor

Quick one: My pre cat Lambda sensor on my 6N2 went bad. Got a new one only to realise that it was only 4 pin sensor which doesnt fit my 6 pin connector. I find it strange that there are 2 versions, even when I type my reg into euro car parts I get both tpyes, why is this? Do you think there is any t...

Re: Severe transmission failure

Thinking out loud, (not always a good idea), I was trying to work out why only one side of a cutch plate would get worn down to the metal, and one thing that would allow that to happen, ie only the engine side to get worn down, would be if the clutch plate was not free to move along the splines on ...

Re: Central locking please help me!!!

Are all the switches smooth when you press them? Have you left the windows or doors open while it was raining outside? Water or dust could have got in. Take door panels off and check all electrical connections in the door. Careful not to break the clips although they are inexpensive to replace if yo...

Re: Idle problems with 2003 1.2 polo

Have you checked all intake/throttle body hoses and pipes for vacuum leaks? Does the car start alright, battery fully charged and at good health? Could be caused by a fuel system problem. When was the last time the fuel filter was renewed as it could be clogged. Perhaps it might be worth checking ou...

Re: Upgrading car door speakers help

Stock stereo only has 4 outputs as far as I know, one for each door speaker. In my 9n the rear door speakers were fake, had to custom fit ones myself. Also upgraded stereo to a pioneer double din with bt and that allowed for my fly subwoofer in the boot. That with soundproofed tailgate and door pane...

Re: Severe transmission failure

So I had some time today to replace the clutch assembly. The replacement kit arrived pretty fast. I found that the splines on the clutch disk were completely intact, but the disk itself was extremely worn. It also looked like it endured alot of heat, judging by the discoloration on the metallic part...

Re: Severe transmission failure

I really do hope it is just damage to the clutch. I have ordered a clutch assembly which I'll fit this weekend. I didn't get the chance to remove clutch yet, getting the gearbox out was so temperamental without a lift or ramps. I didn't try engaging the gears with the box out the car, as I removed t...

Severe transmission failure

Hello, I own 2 polos and this is my first post. Yesterday I removed the gearbox from my 9n 1.2l manual. This is for diagnosis after a major failure in the road few weeks ago due to an attempted downshift where I accidentally dropped into 2nd instead of 4th. Felt like something broke and the engine s...
