I have a couple issues Im looking for some advice on. I have just had the waterpump and thermostat replaced due to the usual common fault of them leaking.

Can anyone tell me if I should avoid a copy part for the sump? I ask as I can get a sump for £40 but a genuine VW sump is around £200 so a massive difference.

I know some specific parts are adviseable to stay away from anything other than genuine but does anyone know if this is the case for a sump ...

Thanks again Maarten. Are you aware of any youtube videos on this? Im going to do it myself but the only vid i could find was just sump and Sealer. No gasket used. I always thought it was either gasket or sealer and never both.

Thanks, when you say sealer and seals… are they needed also? I thought it would just be pan and gasket?

I have a leak from the sump pan so I need to change the pan and gasket. Can anyone tell me the genuine part numbers for both? Or confirm if an alternative brand will fit properly.

Changed mine over today the video looks a lot easier than it is. No idea how its meant to clip back into place as it doesn't seem to have any clips on it. I had to wedge the old one free but the new one wouldn't stay down and is sitting in there loose. However, it is now working on all 4 settings ...

Can anyone tell me the part number for the blower resistor? Needs changing as only blowing on setting 4. Loads on enay for £10 but they seem to say up to 2013 only a d mine is a 2016 gti.

Thats right, the glow from the red ring also shines i to the back part near where the cup holders are. This cigarette lighter bulb was t working so i bought the special tool to pull the inner sleeve out and have replaced the bulb

Another question, i believe where the cup holder is there should be a red light. I think the bulb must have gone as it doesnt light up. Do you know if its easy to replace the bulb?

Another question i have thought of, do these engines have a “major” service? Belts etc, and of so what is the interval on that?
