6N2 Door speakers and things

Post by samm »

Right, i need some new door speakers, cant be bothered to take the door panel off for no reason, so what size door speakers will be a direct replacement, is it 6.5" and how do you get these wired up and if i get a system with tweeters, how hard are these to get hooked up, any modification need to be made to the piller mount etc.
Whats peoples thoughts on the best out there, need some that give good balance between vocals and bass.

Cheers :D

they are 6.5" , if you're gonna get components its gonna be a pain coz u have to send wires back and forth through the doors for the tweeters, so i reccomend get some coaxial speakers and if u wanna amp them, connect the wire from the amp to the factory wire near the head unit which goes to the coaxial speaker. Ive always recommended coaxials in polos, even in my own. and if u want extra treble, change the tweeter in the door pod near the window and connect the wire to the coaxial speaker as it has 2 terminals.

hope that helps

Cheers man, next stop head unit, just getting my cubby hole picked up now, any one interested in a factory double din unit? tape and cd?
Whats the best door speakers for reasonable prices then?
looking at a JVC head unit with i pod and aux, looks pretty good, got a remote as well? What good head units are around for under the £150 mark, would consider going a bit higher, and before anyone says about just buying a double din unit, i wanted the cuddy hole, as the polo seems to be a bit low on good sized ones
What things do i need to remove the factory head unit? got the "U" shaped prongs but i dont think there the right ones, do i need the flat ones?

dont trust halfrauds! better off going to a car audio specialist shop. Under 150 hmm, ive always had sony in my cars as they are easy to use. but u can go for an alpine. as for the speakers ive used JBL all the time, . Something about there treble draws me towards them and they are good value for money

Running components is no issue at all. I'd definitely recommend them over coxials.

Just mount your crossovers behind the doorcards and there's no fuss.

Cheers guys
Thinking now if a double din unit would be easier, again i dont really want to spend over £150 on a head unit so whats around for that money in double din format? Are there any advantages in double din units at this price range?
Just want to get the head unit sorted now.

Thanks

Would a mk 4 golf cubby hole fit in? cos that seems a bit easier to source, theres a few on ebay at the moment

if not, read on here that 6Q0 857919A was the vw part number direct from the dealer, can anyone second this?

Haven't done much research on Double DINs myself. But £150 seems quite a low budget for one.

I would buy and medium spec'd single DIN over and low spec'd double DIN (which is what you'd probably be looking at with that price range).

I would iamgine so, as DINs have to be a generic size. Can't be 100% though.

A way to find out though:

ring vw, give them your reg number and get them to find out the part number for your Polo DIN. then compare it to the golf part number you keep finding. If it's the same: happy days.

how are the original vw components wired on the 6n2? i know on the 6n cable went from headunit -> tweeter -> mid
this made it very easy to mount the crossover behind the dash - not sure how best to approach this on the 6n2.

i have alpine components and amp waiting to go in, just not sure how to go from the amp to the crossovers, especially if i mount the crossovers in the doors.. any thoughts?

I have a 6n2 and bought some Diamond Audio M6 components and the size says they are 6.5 and they dont fit properly.

Is there a spacer ring I need?? and where do I get it from??
