GTI Convenience Unit

Post by inder »

Say I had a Convenience Unit out of a Polo GTI, could it be used or fitted in a Polo MK5 that may or may not have a Convenience Unit fitted already?

Car in question has central locking and electric windows/sunroof

Exactly where behind the dash is the Convenience Unit located? Would a loom be present?

One could attach it and program with VAG-COM?? Basically, what can I do with it? Sell it to a GTI owner who has a broken one? lol, i'd like to add extra functions to my MK5?

Nope, no idea mate sorry! Have you tried asking Martyn at VAGParts to see what he makes of it?

lol if only m8 heh

it's like a 'brain' that gives you / controls convenience functions such a remote central locking, vw alarm, dimming interior light (i think), one touch windows (i think), etc...

lots of these on board computers in the car that do different things,

if you've got one, look after it! I had to have mine replaced at a not-too-convenient cost of £170 from vw! That was just for the part! Never mind all the time they spent finding out what was wrong...

Yep they are expensive direct from VW, I sourced this one v.v.v.v.v.v.cheap, so I hope I could one day use it... :D

anyone know the exact location of the CCM up behind the dash? Recon a loom would be present, even if a CCM was not fitted? Or is there like a cut-down version of a CCM there already? (to control the central locking? total closure?)
