Remote Locking (Mk4 Golf Unit)

Post by sorted »

Hello

I know the mk4 Golf unit works when replaced for the polo

BUT does a Passat remote locking unit work as well ? Maybe with a bit of modding ?

Its like this link below m8, votex add-on kit to upgrade the central locking to one that works with a keyfob too (+ full closure and blinker functions), clips in-line with the central locking pump in the boot...

in-line connection, with black plugs (no cutting needed)

splice connection into a blinker lead (so they flash on lock/unlock)

Hmm cool

I though u could just knick a golf mk4/mk5 locking unit in the boot and then relace it for the one in my boot :-s

Is there more to it when using a remote unit form a golf ? I though it was just the remote pump in the unit ?

If that fails ill have to get that kit !! Just theres a good few mk5 golfs in the scrappy here im sure at least one will have remote locking - just a case of finding out how to adapt it to the polo and what parts need changed over !!

Oh I see, mis-read... I think i've heard that too, that the remote part is built into the pump for those cars that have it on the proper vw keyfob...

if the pinout is the same, it should work... we could compare factory loom colours, if you could list what the golf one has? might just be a straight swap over. may have to re-program vw keyfob, although it should still work. new key blade tho? thinking about it, might need the original keyfob? or could program a new one to the unit?

would be really good if it worked like that, saves an extra keyfob and expense...

let me know, this kit is fantastic as an alternative... i can lock/unlock, with the blinkers flashing to let me know lock status, use total close to close all windows (inc sunroof) or open them to where i want them to be etc...

Each pin on the connector for the wiring loom that clicks in the central locking pump is numbered, if you could write down and post whats there, I could do the same with mine, then we can tell if it will plug in striaght on the polo with the same wiring assignment - and then hope the remote bits are inside the golf pump and try the key out??

1. Well if you can adapt ur central locking pump with a mod + controller right... in the golf/polo's that DO have cetral and Remote locking SURELY they have a control unit ?

2: Where is this control unit - is it built into the Pump in the boot ?

Im pretty determined to find out a way round this

3: Who has remote locking on this forum (STANDARD) that can tell the numbers on there boot pump

4: And take a pic of there boot pump (Cause if i go to a scrappy to look for a remote locking - How the hell will i know !! Ovi the keys but that's a long way round - does the boot pump look diffrent - diffrent wires - more wires - less ? Cmon people !!

exactly the same pin-out as i've got on my pump m8...

I think its the Central Convience Module.. up behind the dash, that takes the signal and relays it along to open/close?

Also I think those with remote central locking also have an vw alarm... again the Central Convience Module handles this

hmm
