Don't no if a custom made one would be as well made and i don.t think it would have been tested on. The Supersprint one is designed for the gti and has been tested for best power gains.
Do you think there will be gains over the stock manifold???

Looking at the photo there don't seem to be many (if any) differences from the stock, designwise or sizewise...

The difference in the two manifolds is that the supersprint one will be polished in the inside and also where the 4 branches come into the one bit, this is the difference that gives you more power because they go into one branch quicker than the standard one. Your looking at an extra 5 bhp. :)

1)Actually i believe the Supersprint manifold is a 4-2-1 manifold same as stock..

2)The stock manifold is also not that rough on the inside..Its a tube for god sake!!

3)~500 Euro for 5 HP ??  I call that a bargain.....

Reviving this post, i am getting closer to buying the Supersprint manifold for the Gti.Anyone know of the possible power gains??

It also removes the first cat, but i can do that almost for free..I surely hope the gains are not based on that.

And another thing.Someone said the trick is the Superpsrint is 4-1 and the stock one is 4-2-1.THATS DEFINATELY WRONG.Just had a look at mine and its a 4-1 manifold. So no change there. It does seem a bit restrictive though...

So...any info on the gains dudes??

P.S.And another thing...The stock manifold has a 1-3,2-4 design whereas the Supersprint one has a 1-2,3-4 design...Any info on what that switch can do to the performance????

Here's the answer from the supersprint factory in Italy when i asked them.
Dear Mr. Jordan,

thank you for your inquiry. I have not any test for that. I think that you
can have a little increase but I cannot give you any "number" becasue we
have not test the car in that way, sorry.

Thank you and Best Regards

Mauro Bertazzoni

I personally think you'll get about 5 to 10 bhp more. The manifold for the Polo GTi fits to the front of the cat, but would
probably need to be fitted at a garage or custom exhaust centre because the
standard manifold and cat is a one-piece section. I was wondering that if you take away the cat wether it would go into limp mode because the oxygen sensor is being removed. :)

Well thats all i needed to know then....Nope...i'm not buying one, especially since the factory itself doesn't know if the damn manifold is working or not

Instead, im gonna go for the 1st cat removal route...Fairly common practice....Should give like a horsey or two...

Yeah think i'll just get the cat removed as well. Let us know how you get on and if there is any problems with the oxygen sensor or car going into limp mode. Will you be getting the car on rolling road to see how much power you have gained.

Well i WAS a strong supporter of switching manifolds, up until the moment i heard:

1)The gains may be close to minimal with a VERY considerable cost....

2)The damn factory has NO IDEA if the manifold actually works....

3)The New Polo Gti MIGHT have the all mighty 1.8T engine.....

So i figure my last mods will be removing the 1st CAT and some other minor stuff...Then i'll be waiting for the New Gti.If its a 1.8T and looks like the SWEET "Polo CUP" cars then IM A BUYER !!!

If not....(2.0 FSI)....I'll hold on to my P R E C I O U S s s s
