to those who have read my previous posts about an engine conv, i would like to give you the news that i am considering an audi s3 engine.the car that it is out of had a fire :( :( which means... no more ecu and wiring. i have been told that the guy at the scrappy that he can get me 1 from anoter s3 and sell me the engine and electronics for £450 and £150 for the gearbox. this would meen for about 1000 i could have a s3 powered polo. :P the guy also has some mk5 rear clusters, but he wants £25 each for them, :? :? :? im trying to think of weather its worth it...

don't buy those clusters for £25 each!! Im pretty sure that when i asked for a quote from VAG parts, they were something like £38 for the pair.

Surely if you put an s3 engine in a 1.0 polo you will have to completely upgrade everything on the car.

just noticed the forum change waahayy!! nice colour contrast
anyway yes wat urz said is true
brakes are a must, tyres, suspension, gearbox, strut brace, and a full on roll cage if your feeling brave
o and i think you will probably need all new engine mounts as its not as simple as taking the polo engine out and dropping in an s3, dont want to put you off, if you do it i cant wait to see what its like!

i know all this, i have spoken to some people at midland vw, they recon full break conversion, stiffer axels etc, and new engine mounts, im not to sure about the roll cage just yet but i know i will have to  i think this will be my project, if so im looking for a mk2 16v golf for a daily driver.

what sort of bulkhead/slam panel cuttting will have to be done to fit a beastly engine like that in it ? Surely it won't anywhere near fit without modification, plus don't you need a much bigger rad, where to put that ?
I'm sure you've thought of all of this, i'm just interested as I wan't to do a 1.8t in a mk5 and will do the work myself so it would be interesting to see how you get on ?
