Post by mfa-polo »

Has anyone changed the front discs on their 9N? Could you please give an idea on the stages?

Many thanks Matt

thanks thats a real help! I had got as far as removing the caliper, which on most cars would then release the disc, but no such luck on the 9n! I appreciate your input though, its nice to know that you can get such expert help when you most need it!!!

Also no expert as I'm used to mk2's rather than mk6's, but you haven't overlooked a locating screw have you? And have you tried giving it a few sharp taps from behind with something hefty against a block of wood? They often just sieze on. That's about all I can suggest.. obviously don't try hitting it too hard if you're not sure if there's something else holding it on there ;)

I found the locating screw and gave it a good bashing, but no joy. I need the car for work so I guess I didnt bash it as hard as I could, in fear of knackering it. Im sure it will get sorted, just thought this might be the sort of topic, which people could advice me on. Thanks for your advise though! :P

It's probably worth asking in the mk6 forum rather than the general chassis forum, you'll get more people who know what they're talking about in there ;)
