MK4 Tyre question URGENT!

Post by AKs_SlickPolo »

Im looking to buy a pair of 16'' Oz alloys, and they are coming with 4 new tyres that are sized 215/40/16. My question is, are these too big for a mk4 or will they be okay? possibly in the future ill change to 195's but i dont wanna bin em brand new?

Oh yeah im also gonna lower it soon with these tyres on by say about 40-50mm. will it still be okay? cheers

theyre too big for the mk4.
better get some 195/40/16 then flog the 215's on ebay.

because lowering will cause problems with 215s.

so isnt the 215 the width? then isnt that dependant upon the offset of the wheels really?

thing is i just had a look at a tyreshop website, and 195's are quite rare on 16's, the most common size is 205's

so is it completely immpossible with a lower of -45mm ish on the 215's? how about widout the lower

The tyres are *way* too wide. Even without lowering. It'll handle like a pig.

Sell the 215's or get the proper size rightaway. You'll need 195-40-16's.

most shops sell the most popular (and cheaper) tyre size, usually 205/40/16s ~

But, you want the correct size... may as well get the 195-40's right away.
