you can buy light tinting spray, but i've also seen it done with black paint mixed with loads of clear laquer.

well if your on about color coding wit body work the only way in which i would think you could do it is to mix it up and use a spray gun

other than that i used savage black tinting spray from www.speeding.co.uk to do my mates mk3 clio taillights

Well i got a spare set of clio clusters

washed them warm water/soap - degrease if needed

dry them with old cloth or similar

use savage black tint spray do like 2-3 thin layers per session making sure it doesnt drip

leave for 30/40mins

add another 2-3 thing layers of spray

and repeat untill your happy

here is the results on my mates clio

Image

they arent exactly pitch black if you know what i mean but they arent far out and they look magic to me

depending on how dark you wann go there were some polos with smoked rears on the mk4 iirc

i think it was the GLX but i might be wrong and the only listing i can see lists them as partially dimmed black

other wise:
remove from car
clean really well
wet sand at 600 grit to gice it a key
if you want a smooth look try to get rid of the raised lettering on the lens.
sprat even but light coats till they are to your satisfaction
i would advise laquering as normal to add some durability and smoothen things up as light coats may feel gritty.

refit to car and enjoy

-or-

theres the patent vauxhall methot of getting some high dernier rated tights and streaching them over the lens while its out but you may have to pay royalties to the vauxhall owners club ;)
