Which tyres should I get?

Post by Ajit_mk2_16v »

Hi all,

My polo's front tyres need replacing and I wanted to know which tyres you guys run in the 185/55/R14 H size?

Also, Do you know of any good places in Berkshire, Middlesex, London area to get them from?

Thanks

Khumo's - seem quite good but 60 bhp hardly stresses them much

I like Uniroyals as a first choice but they can be a bit pricey - so khumos are my second choice

Mitcheldever is somewhere down that way - some of the guys in my other club use them and rate them highly

I'm running the standard 16v alloys... so I'd stick with the 185/55 I think.

Khumo's : I've heard good things about them but can't find a place which stocks them! ??

I suppose it could be read that way on the other hand I think it was quite clear - a 1.4 8V with 60 bhp wouldn't even give wooden tyres much grief

I've seen that ECP sells them.. I might have to check their website out.

I'm running 14inch alloys on my car.

bracknell tyres mate - super place, super cheap - a bit of a wait tho

they stock kumhos - gor some 195x45x15's from them fitted for 39 quid.

I;ve been very very impressed with the kumho's - wouldn't choose any others for the time being. perhaps consider the goodyear eagle g3d3's.

I've been quoted £45 all in for Firestone TZ200 Fuel Saver for 185/55/R14 which is the best so far. Thats from Martins Tyres off the M3, Surrey

£42 and £10 wheel alignment which is good!

I think that bracknell might be closer from my place as well.

Thanks for the tip Dave!

105   f* me!

just been impressed - good roadholding both wet and dry, very responsive I find. grip in the dry is superb - I get the feeling my half shafts could snap if I laid the power down too suddenly - they really don't seem to want to break traction.

road noise is good too, just got to report on the wear rate.....

oh - and they look pretty nice too  they are the escsta ones or something like that, for the money they are good IMO
