you're right - parkers quote 120bhp and 815kg roughly 150bhp a tonne  isn't that similar power to weight as a g40?
Not quite, even against a 306 Gti 6 (167 bhp) gets wasted by a G40

Ah! I appretiate the speed of the 106 GTi's but wouldnt have one! The interior in them is just too dated and the exterior doesnt scream quality either!?

Thats just me tho, i like a compromise between speed/quality/toys!

i dont think a 106 gti weighs 815kg a G40 weighs more than 850

more like 915 for the gti

also to note all Vw figures are taken with half payload,

(mk4 payload 450kg)

i mean all Vw performance figures stated in their brochures are taken with a half of the max suggested payload

the max payload is 450 kg

but isn't a gti-6 about 1100kg? bringing it to 150bhp per tonne too..... it must all be close power to weight - but i guess the g40's forced induction gives it way more torque over the whole range...

just guessing here, BTW! i know it's not _all_ power to weight involved

Ive only ever raced one 106 GTI, rolling start off a roundabout. I was infront to begin with and he couldnt get past me upto over 100mph before i came off the throttle due to cars up ahead.

He has a full s/s decat exhaust system whereas I had the same plus a supersprint manifold, filter and stripped out-ness.

And your 100% sure it was a 106 Gti and not a Quicksilver (same but silver and 1.4) It dosnt really add up with a 106 being lighter and more powerfull :S

Quick silver? Are you taking the p***? Their slow as sh*t.

Yes I know the guy, hence why I know his mods.

I was running faster times at the 1/4 mile strip too but if it doesnt add up I must be lying.....Obviously.
