mk4 side strips....

hey guys just wandering if any of u know if the plastic side strips on the mk4's jus peel off or if there is holes on the underside of them like the mk5.

Far as Im aware they're stuck on with the same stuff your badges are at the back. Get the hairdryer out and some fishing line!

Im doing mine soon, still aint got round to it

yes they are stuck on :D smooooooooooth finish :D

might need a bit of T-cut :P as well

be very careful! i've seen lacquer come off with the strips......

but mine were ok :D

Yes be careful mine had had a respray and they just sprayed around the strips, when i removed them i got the outline of the strips from the extra layer of paint plus some nasty white bleach marks that dont come out :(

Check that they havent been re stuck on with aftermarket super glue like mine.

I need both my doors respraying. :roll:

ouch , should be ok with certain colors tho

well. there's an alternative - get mk5 ones as they'll cover up the missing lacquer 8)

better to get the bump strips sprayed (mk4 1s) and stick them back on, cheaper solution IMO

I was thinkin of this but -- say sum one in tesco's car park opens there door onto the painted bump strips wont the paint crack (lines)

Not if you put plenty of laquer on, well i guess anyway. As long as you primer it properly first n stuff.

i was thinking if the lacquer comes off - then you'll need wider ones to cover the damage - hence mk5 ones - they are also smoother and look nicer... 8)

the paint shouldn't crack, only if it's hit very hard
