Mk5 Component setup (questions)

Post by wul3er »

Could someone help me here please.
Im setting up Alpine components into the mk5.

I can run the wires no problem to the mid and trebble from the crossover, But what wires would i use to got the Input of the Crossover

I am just going to use the origional wires that goto the stereo just now untill i get the cash for an amp.

Theres a hole bunch of wires comes out then split up into 2 different sets.
I have a Brown & Blue and Black & Red which seem to be for the speakers.

Heres were the Brown & Blue meets the Red & Black
Image

The Brown & Blue goes to a plug which connected to the Mid (Seen Below)

The Red & Black went to the Tweeter (Again Below)

Im having both my door cards off today to fix a dodgy electric window, will let you know what the wires do? Let me know!

For the input, I guess you would use the factory wires that go to the headunit, and then the other connectors would be cut off, so the bare wires used as the outputs on the crossovers?

sorry never installed crossovers before!

Hope this helps?

Yep, see my link above - lets you know the colours to headunit

Right Rear Speaker (+) = Blue
Right Rear Speaker (-) = Brown w/ Blue Stripe

Right Front Speaker (+) = Red
Right Front Speaker (-) = Brown w/ Red Stripe

Left Front Speaker (+) = Blue w/ White Stripe
Left Front Speaker (-) = Brown w/ White Stripe

Left Rear Speaker (+) = Red w/ Green Stripe
Left Rear Speaker (-) = Brown w/ Green Stripe

The pics that i have taken are for the Front Right.

So according to your Diagram this would mean they shoudl be
(+) = Red
(-) = Brown w/ Red Stripe

I have a Red which goes to the tweeter, but the brown i have Doesnt have a Red stripe (or any stripe).

I'm gonna have a look at the plug that goes into the stereo and see if i can figure it out from there. I should have though of that before.

basically there are 2 wires coming out of the HU to the door.
they enter the door and go to the mid
there are then another pair to the tweeter
