What are the XXX6.5's like, I'm thinking of getting a pair for the next install, have you just got them in the standard position or a door build?

There pretty huge.
There in temp door pods at the minute.
Think I may have figured a way of mounting them directly to the doors, just need the time to have a play really.

They sound fantastic.
The SQ is just as ood as anything I have heard, the musical abiliy of these speakers blow your mind, they need double the power Im feeding them at the minute really.
Im playing them at 80hz upwards, as Im waiting on some 50hz crossovers a mate is building me, but even running them full range you can feel the protential.

The fact that they are 2ohm drivers also makes a nice change

Sound very nice, at £400 they ain't cheap but hey it's only money, I'm going with a full RE setup next, RE XXX15, RE 12.1 Amp, RE XXX6.5's, should be good for 140db+ I reckon.

Its only money if your missus isn''t pulling finger nails off when you ask for the credit card lol

I didnt pay anywhere near that.
When I bought them in April, they had been delayed quite a bit so neither the crossovers nor tweeters had been finished in time for the launch.

I bought them directly from the supplier as he'd supplied me my sub a ear before.
Think I paid around £240-£260 for them. i cant remember the correct price.

If the tweeters are anything like the tweets supplied with RE comps there a little harsh.
Still on the look out for so sweet sounding tweets to go with mine :(

Oh yeah Am Singh, I got my wiring from him, not a bad bloke. Just can't wait until I get the cash for it all and am able to lose my hearing totally, I've got an RE SE12 at the minute and that moves the front wipers on certain tracks, and the roof and the boot and the doors  Going to look at a GTi on Thursday so hopefully if all is well I'm come home with it.

tigz those mids arent designed for door mounts, fantastic speakers but they really should be mounted in a kickpod of some kind.

I got this advice directly from the guy who imports R.E into this country - believe me i know he's right as well!

Mate.
Speak to Mr Singe.
he runs blade.ice.
Hes the chap who imports it.
He tested these mids sealed and vented, and there was no diffrence in output, but the SQ was so much better vented.

When RE completed them, they also changed there minds, and said it is better vented.

My doors are fully sealed, theres two layers of extreme covering each doors.
I have got to build and MDF plate, to cover the holes in the inner door card, then seal them in the doors.

Trust me, drop Mr Singe a line, and ask him about these speakers mate.

Mate, I downloaded those vids a feww months back.
The twin XXX mids in that door build, those speakers move just like the subs, its amazing to see.

Defo recomend them mate.
Im wanting to sell my sub (Although I love it completly) and get a 10" XXX, but that would meen changeing the amp as well (Well, useing the Rockford to give the mids 400wrms each) and buying a monster amp.

The girlfriend would kill me!

wierd - when i spoke to him about them, Am recommended them running in a pod- although admittedly this was just before release in UK, ot sure if he managed to do a full on A/B test with them at that time so could be mistaken.

I nearly bought a set myself but decided against it coz had other financial prioirties at the time- but they are fantastic speakers :)

Best speakers under £400 imo.
And still the only mids, that make a 3 way set up un-nessesry imo.

Are you running the SE ported or sealed?
133.3db is that on the new mics?

Not too sure what mic it was, wasn't a new one though I don't think, It's running in a a 1.18cuft Sealed box. I think it was 133.4db I typed it wrong before, I want to go back another day and get more, I'm sure I can do and will do.

i was looking at useing one of these.

Blaupunkt Burning Desire II - Mono Class D Reference Amplifier
  • 2000wrms @ 1ohm
  • 1750wrms @ 2ohm
  • 1200wrms @ 4ohm
All for £349.99 less my my discount.

So gives plenty of scope for the future, incase I down grade.
Run the amp at 4 ohm.

The SE is getting 200w under what the RMS power is, I'm giving it 400rms at 2ohms, it's capable of taking over 600
