Window Regulator 'Clamps' - Plastic --> Metal?
Window Regulator 'Clamps' - Plastic --> Metal?
Is there a repair kit or someway of replacing the clamps that attach the glass to the window regulator up/down movement? The plastic ones break too easily
my bro's window on his ibiza dropped down and wouldn't come up cause the plastic ones broke! seat do a repair kit to replace the plastic ones with alloy ones apparently, so i expect veedub do the same! but i believe them to be quite expensive for some odd reason! (£44 rings a bell)
this is pritty stupid cause we are paying for veedubs mistake of clips! instead of repairing out of good will as they fouled up, they are making us pay! how rude
lukily we have a garage that we rent so we managed to squeeze his car in there while we waited for the garage to order the bits! his car is still under warranty so didn't have to pay, but we enquired about another kit so we had one ready for when the other side breaks!
hope thats of some help!
regards
Doug

Yep the plastic was a silly idea, not tested enough, else they would not be a repair kit... guess all are metal now?
Any chance you know the part number for the repair kit you speak of?
On the day it happened, I took the door card off and have fixed it (well sorted it good and proper lol) with two cable ties... luckly found a slight rectangle cutout in the plastic, threaded the cables ties thru and around and closed them fairly tight (left some play so they dont break easily)... works perfectly, now it does not jump off the up/down bit and the cable ties are not restricting any movement on the runners

would like to upgrade to metal tho

A dealer won't keep stock like that as the bonding glue only has a short shelf life.doug&dan wrote:i'm sorry, i don't no the repair kit number, but i'm sure it was pritty expensive! veedub garage could probably give u a quote on how much!
what was even worse i thought was that they didn't keep em on the shelf! if they no they are going to break, then surely they should keep em ready and waiting!
