Diameter of standard Polo '98 CL exhaust pipe?

Hi could someone tell me the diameter of the exhaust pipe on a '98 CL Mk4 Polo.

I'm buying a mate a nice shiney exhaust trim as a present, but haven't a clue about diameter of the pipe.

Hope someone can help.

Also if the exhuast exit's facing the ground with a curve does that need to be cut off before fitting the chrome trim?

It will look gay you know, the exhaust faces the ground doesnt it. Im sure cutting it, there wont be a long enough bit to fit the 'strap on' on the end.

just get your mate a nice rectangular exhaust...erm...a nice remus will do and im sure he will apreciate it! will look much and i mean MUCH better then the tip

But me budget won't stretch to a Remus exhaust. I thought I'd get a nice zorst trim instead.

Plus the friend its for, it's her 1st car and she doesn't really want it messed with. I'm just trying to improve the look of it by getting rid of the nasty OEM orange indicators and fitting a few odds an ends for the cosmetic look really.
