Perry Macarthy was the Black Stig.

The new Stig is believed to be a young British racing driver. There has been lots of talk about it on cupranet but I can't find the thread.

I've always had a feeling that the new stig is Johnny Herbert......... Just the way all the guests describe him he seems to fit the bill.

Cheers

Dave.

guess he could do with the work ;)

maybe its one of those guys (or gals) from the Seat Cupra challenge thing that always seemed to be on late night tv when i rolled in from working the bar?
they'd have the feeling for ragging a hatch rather than a sports car round a track (without neccessarily lacking the skills to take a Lambo to the limit), and probably have something similar to the Liana* sitting on their home driveway

* STILL maintain that's the Hawai'ian word for penis

I dunno, I mean he handled that F1 car very well a couple of months back, something tells me its either a current or retired F1/Le Mans driver, something along them lines.

ah, it's ...... oh.... that guy off my old "Fast Lane" racing game (basically Le Mans type racers ... GTs are they called? on the Atari ST, with "real" tracks and drivers in :D)

aha! it's SO GODDAMN OBVIOUS

it's Stig Blumqvist!

fast lane was the bomb, you could tell by how my car-game-hating brother always wanted to burn the floppy - but couldnt, as his favourite, annoying primary coloured platform game was on there... terrys big adventure. luckily we could always agree on the third title that the good ol' Pompey Pirates squeezed on... Stunt Car Racer! Less a racing game, more a look-im-flying-oh-god-where's-the-track-gone-arrrrgh-splat-coooooooooool-lets-do-it-again!!! game. sweeeeet memories

No its not!

Thats his role model though. When the black stig was originally invented he was to be called The Gimp - Perry protested and so the The Stig was born...

Its all in Perry's book

I'm pretty certain its Tiff Needel or perhaps Jonny Herbet.

The reason is if you look at the Stigs line into Chicago its massively different to the F1 drivers line...

And Tiff was offered a drive in the renault at the london F1 showcase last year... :?

I'll see what I can do!

It depends who owns the actual airfield, if the BBC have bought it (unlikely) then we may have a few problems. If its private (like Elvington and BPG) then we shouldn't have too many problems!

Just as an aside, my local Toyota dealer has one the "new very small & cheap ones" that Top Gear played football with a couple of months ago sitting on its forecort. It looks rather bent, but it shows you how seriously the manufacturers must be taking any kudos the programme can bring.

Deek.
