Seats
Hi all, had a serch under this topic and a lot of the same problem but just wondering.
Have any of you ever had the drivers seat replaced in your MK5? Also, do you know what the interior is called, it's the black ish one with kind of dark squares (sorry!)
I think it might be anthracite select but I'm not too sure.
Any help would be gratefully recieved!

Thanks very much for the info Inder, it's much appreciated.
Yes it's an 8v 1.0 E 2000 W reg.

Who would think it would be so much trouble and pain getting a new seat, It's a niche market if ever there was one.
Incredibly enough, VW want £146 - the vat JUST for the rear frame of the seat, I can have a brand new Corbeau Targa for the same price as VW want for the back rest (which incidentally doesn't come with any foam or cloth). I almost cried laughing, especially considering the VW seats are made out of tinfoil, MDF and toilet paper.
Anyway, now I need to buy a seat and find a subframe but the eternal problem of no one making parts specific to the facelift and not being too sure if the 6n parts will fit.
Good god I love my polo but it isn't half a pain in the arse.
Thanks again for you help Inder

Hey no problem, glad we worked out what it was called though
VW are crazy with some of their prices, I was wondering about a new seat cover too - over £100+ I was going to laugh at parts man on phone, but thought it would be rude
Ahh well
I think someone is selling some seats that would fit in your car in the for sale section, give them a look?
or maybe consider those after market ones, sounds better all round and cheaper too??
I think 6n parts might fit, if you have VW part numbers, i can let you know if vw parts say it should, but i guess personal experience of fitting them is best answer from someone

Sorry I've lost the plot here - can you just explain what is wrong with the seat?AshLeMacq wrote:Who would think it would be so much trouble and pain getting a new seat, It's a niche market if ever there was one.

The problem with dealers is unless you are specific about what you want they'll quote odd prices.... If you just need a new sqab or back rest cover I'm damn sure they are avaliable and not that expensive

Haha thanks very much for that! I wanted to reply to say thanks but I though "I Can't do that this guy will think I'm some nutter ebay stalker!".ICEYPOLO wrote:thought i recognised the user name, i've jus replied to ya seat question through ebay mate,

At least now I know the 6n seating plate thingy is the same as the 6n2.
Thanks again.

Well, a while back I made the HUGE mistake of letting the nieces mess about in the car one BBQ and beer filled saturday evening and the next day I noticed that the seat was a bit... wobbly and slanted. It's got worse and worse and now it's... well... Snapped! I've taken off the cloth and "gently removed" some of the foam and essentially the base of the back rest has snapped (the metal support frames) so it needs a new seat.bstardchild wrote:Sorry I've lost the plot here - can you just explain what is wrong with the seat?AshLeMacq wrote:Who would think it would be so much trouble and pain getting a new seat, It's a niche market if ever there was one.

Once I eventually get it sorted I'll be happy as it's been one of a few niggling little problems that I've not had time to sort but when it's done, and the Idling is sorted and there's a new clutch I'll love it as much as the day I bought it again!
Thanks all for your help.

Found one off of a 1.4se for £58 delivered.polo2k wrote:the reson for the odd pricing is that the seats arnt sold complete. they are sold in individual parts and sometimes bits get missed
might it be worth replacing just the snapped part or getting it welded?
Stroke of luck there!
Thanks for all your help:).
