alloys fitting question

Post by AKs_SlickPolo »

ive recently got some deep dish alloys that had mazda fitment. but had a few questions which im wondering some of you may be able to answer.

The offset is 38, pcd 100. would the offset be okay for a mk4?

the hub seems to be 56.5 - 57mm. This is without spigot rings and i measured it with a cm ruler, so i assume that it is 57mm as measuring in cms is usually not so accurate :? . will it be okay to fit them without a spigot ring?

Also the tyres are 195/50/15. Would this not be the right tyre size? ive heard that it puts your speedo out by 4mph, i.e. 30mph on those tyres according to the clocks would mean your doing 34mph in real life?

Also in terms of the nuts, i have four locking nuts. i will use one in each wheel but, for the other three of each wheel will it be okay to use the steelie bolts? i think i read a post saying you shouldnt, but as i say i think, so i wanted to know if this is okay too.

Sorry about the too many questions, just want to make sure they are okay.

any help on any if not all question will be great. cheers

Thanks mate, i think that has answered all my fitment questions. cheers 8)

also, what about:

the tyres are 195/50/15. Would this not be the right tyre size? ive heard that it puts your speedo out by 4mph, i.e. 30mph on those tyres according to the clocks would mean your doing 34mph in real life?

Also in terms of the nuts, i have four locking nuts. i will use one in each wheel but, for the other three of each wheel will it be okay to use the steelie bolts? i think i read a post saying you shouldnt use the bolts of the 8v steelie wheels, but as i say i think, so i wanted to know if this is okay too.

thanks

I'm not too sure how much the 195/50s will affect your speedo but it would be much better to get some 195/45s which are a lower profile and so probably wouldnt affect your speedo.

About the nuts yeah use one locking nut in each weel and then use some ordinary wheel nuts for the rest, i think you should be ok using the standard steelie nuts but if you want you could just go buy some from halfords or somewhere and i dont theink theyd break the bank.

stick to 45s if u can, keeps speedo very very close to stock RR and will have room for lowering later! :D

Kinda got on this thread abit late.

I too have rims for Mazda fitment... Suzuki wheels to be precise.

These are 54.1mm centre bore... what are you going to do about the centre bore? I've been told I could hammer my axle down to 54mm or just enough to fit the wheels on.

as for the tyre size with relation to speedo readings go here

195/50/15s are about 3.3% slow... which means 60mph on your speedo means you're doing 62mph... not enough to get you a speeding ticket. I'm cheap... so I'd keep my tyres on until I need replacements :D

Hey. well although mine were mazda fitment, they have a bore of 57.1 without any spigot rings. so they'll fit straight on 8) . I would have the wheels re-bored if it was locked to 54. As if ure gonna change your cars bore, u wont be able to change it back, where as wheels you can always do so. BTW are these aftermarket rims, if ones have you got?

Hehehe yeah bstardchild said it would be silly hammering the axles... I would have been prepared to let the next owner figure out that the bore is changed LMAO  if it wasnt for the safety implications.

I got mine off a Suzuki Ignis Sport... u know them white 10 spokes.
After seeing nicky6n16v's Polo with white rims I soooo want to put them on. But people are saying its dangerous to get the bore drilled bigger, if not dangerous then it could cause problems with the handling and suspensions if not dead centre.
Could be expensive... I'd have to get it relaquered at the very least or repainted then relaquered and then any problems which may occur.

I looks like your wheels are ok for Polos... just the tyres issure really.

*sighs and goes off looking for a red mazda to fit wheels on* :D
