Question for TomTom owners.................

Post by waveydavey »

Hi all,

Just a quick question for anybody that owns a TomTom Go 300/500/700........

I'm in the process of asking TomTom themselves about this but they ain't the quickest of repliers.............

When i'm travelling around with the TomTom guiding me along the set route, along the bottom of the screen there is the option to display the current road name/number..... Now according to all the manuals etc that i have found it says this should be the road that you are currently travelling along...... Problem is my unit always displays the road that i will be travalling on next!!!!! It doesn't matter if the road is a couple of hundred yards away or 5 miles away it still displays the next road.

Can anybody advise if their device does this aswell or does it appear to be a problem with mine!!! I've tried resetting the device but still the same and also tried setting a couple of different routes but same again.

For instance i was on the M1 this morning and it had the road displaying as the A**** which i was due to travel along after coming off the M1..... Approx 6 miles away!!!!! The voice commands are all correct and in sync it's just the roadname along the bottom.

Cheers

Dave.

Cheers for that Steve,

After having another play today it appears that if you drive with the tomtom switched on but not guiding you it does display the present road that you are on..... As soon as you set a route and let it guide you it changes to display the next road you will be travelling on.......

Rather odd.... i assume it must be correct thewn but i would have thought it was more use to you to know what road you were on than what you were going onto next.

Cheers again

Just think of it this way --- you come up to a roundabout with several signposts on it ... are you going to look for the road you're currently on, or the one you need to change to?

But don't forget the tomtom is telling you which exit etc... you need on the up-coming roundabout..... with a little schematic of the approaching junction, the main map screen and also the voice prompts.....

The way we looked at it was if you were travelling somewhere to meet someone and they asked where you were.... i.e. look at the screen and tell them you're on Whatsit Avenue.

Cheers
