a new set of injectors will probably cost you a lot. i would guess they're made by Bosch, as it's their engine management system on the mk4. i'm sure you'll be able to get them through VW aftermarket, not sure about other companies though.

Since you've got an SPI (just like me) it's not possible to get "a new set of injectors", you've only got 1  And it aint a "regulor" injector, you can check it by taking of your airfilter, and then start your engine (do this in a dustfree enviorment) and let someone else hit the throttle a bit, now check if the injector (which is mounted right about your throttlebody) spray a straight "line" of fuel on top of the throttlevalve (sorry, dunno the exact term in english, in dutch it's GASKLEP and in german DROSSELKLAPPE, babblefish translation can help you out if you don't understand the term).

If it doesn't generate a straight "line" of fuel, check your fuelfilter, and the fuelpressure.
Filter could be filled with rubbish, or the fuelpressureregulator could be damaged (the goldish round thingy next to the injector (which is a black sphere like object underneath your airfilter) )

ENGINE MODS:
easy and cheap engine mods are very easy to do/let do by garage.

Get yourself the camshaft from a Polo 2F GT with engine code 3F, this cam has 219 degrees of valve-opening, other then 188 degrees like my 1.3SPI and 204 degrees on the 1.6SPI.
The advantage of this cam is that it will increase BHP and torque, but it won't cost you any "drivability", cause the single injector will have problems with cams with about 268 degrees.

Exhaustmanifold, this is the most expensive mod, but definitely neccessary.
Get rid of you catalyc convertor, replace this with a straight piece of piping, and get a free flow exhaust from there on.

Get urself a powerfilter (K&N has my preference)

get a fuelpressure regulator which can provide more the 1 Bar of pressure like your standard VW regulator (got mine for 20 euro's on german Ebay 8) cheaparse, poor Germans  )

et voila, you've got yourself a far more "spunky" engine
