Coil-overs for a 6n2 Polo 1.4 TDi - Help!

Hi there!

I'm portuguese and I'm new here at the forum, so sorry if I commit some writing mistakes

I'm thinking of installing coil-overs on my car, but I'm having a bit of trouble on choosing them cause there are not as many specific kits as I wished for my car. I was thinking on lowering my car not more than 35 mm, and I want something that isn't very expensive and also that has good quality, and that lasted for some time.

I thought in a Koni SportKit but there are no specific ones for my car. I tried KW and there are no specific ones too, as far I know...

Can anyone give some advice on this? What other suspension makers should I consider? I was advice to buy Bilstein coil-overs, but I think they are a bit expensive. What about Spax? They have a specific kit for my car, but I don't have references about this manufacturer.
Should I get instead of coil-overs, separate springs and shock absorbers? If so, what set should I get?

Sorry for so many questions, but I'm a bit confused about this...

hey mate

if you only want to go -35mm just stick with springs. coilovers are miles too much for what you want. if you wanted -50mm to -100mm them you go for coilovers.

springs... you could go for H&R, only good things have ever been said!

I have found a couple of sites that say they do them for the 6N2 but they are all the same part number for the 1.0, 1.4, 1.6GTi, 1.4TDi, 1.9TDi etc etc (even tho they don't do a 6N2 1.9TDi) and i know for a fact you can't just stick any on the TDi as the engine is heavier than a Petrol engine so im assuming it would throw the springs off balance with the different weight ?????

Correct me tho if i am wrong

im pretty sure coil-overs for the GTI are different from the 1.0,1.4 im not sure where this leaves the TDI?

i myself have got a 1.4 TDi 6N2 aswell and have had just spax lowering springs fitted and not really had no problems thus far (touch wood!

) but i would say i've probably made a blunder after reading this post as I just bought the springs off Ebay not enquiring which model they were meant for! It just said they were meant for a 6N2, I guess i was distracted by the price... 40 squid!? my mechanic stuck em on no probs and no rubbing/size probs afterwards even after putting 16" rims on, handling was much improved and the lowered look of the car was wkd! But i would say the ride comfort had suffered abit and its especially annoying living in an are full of speed bumps!?

it doesn't knock but doesn't take bumps too well, and bounces too much for my liking! after a year or so with em, I am kinda fed up and now looking to replace them with a spring and shocks combo, coilovers are just too expensive! Ive come across a Bilstein kit meeting these requirements available from Eurocarparts.co.uk, its not listed on their site but call them up and they should have it or order it in for you. There's 2 kits, streetline and sprintline, streetline's are about Â£200 and are more suitable for road use, more comfortable yet still low. while the sprintline is similar altho prob abit more stiffer to handle better. I havent decided on which yet but most likely im gonna go for the sprintlines! I'll let you know of the results!

just don't touch spax if your after a comfortable ride!
