replacing standard speakers...

Post by loud »

i have this in the ice section bit its a bit dry in there so thought i'd stick it in here too...

I was wanting to just replace the standard front and rear door speakers, was wondering if 16.5cm ones would fit in or should i go for 17cm? also mounting depth...does anyone know it? or at least if 59mm would fit?

Also on a search i saw these...

VW rear speaker adaptors

These adaptors will enable you to replace your factory fitted speakers with aftermarket units, and use the original speakers location. These adaptors will enable the fitment of 17cm speakers and are for the following models:

Polo (Jan 1999 on) rear doors

there are front ones too....are these necessary?

Cheers

16.5 is the size you want..... 17s wont fit without making a door pod

17cm is 6.5"
You have 16cm speakers as standard.
The speaker adapters are used to let you fit 17cm speakers in place.
Does the job but the cheaper option, of cutting out a couple of MDF rings does a better job.
Most after marker speakers are 17cm/6.5" sized.
