Sorry pal but the gap at the back will get bigger not smaller if you lower the car........

Just to add a further point the wheels go up and down not forwards and backwards so clearance in your picture isn't an issue and it will not rub - unless you run a completely daft tyre size like 80 profile on a 15 inch rim!!!

Your not silly in thinking like that Cymrupolo, i was worried the same with my old polo so i got 30mm kit. I found that it was actually further away from the side once lowered. If you notice the wheel is at its widest part next to the arch there. When its lowered it will move into the arch and be fine. You may have to remove the rear arch liners, but thats nothing. Few bolts. Im 100% sure you will be TOTALLY fine with 50mm .

not too my taste

I like the wheel arch to follow the tyre and not end up like a bell on top if you understand what I mean

Yep - you worry way too much but at least you ask questions first (the people that really worry me are the ones who post i've just spent £XXXX on these will they fit?????

BTT Arch Liners - They should be fine unless you have oversize tyres or go silly low

They are just to catch dirt etc from the rear wheel going onto the arch. Unless your doing some serious offroading i wouldnt worry about it. All that happens is your rear bumper gets wet inside. Don't worry about it. When i got my old polo lowered the garage did it for me and i didnt even ask. They said it is fine without them.

Your gunna go grey @ like 25 at this rate.

Are your wheels 195/45/16's aswel?
Nope ones shown there are 14's but it normally runs around on BBS RX2's with 195/45 15's like the signature pic!!

You really should have 195/40 16's not 195/45 16 - thats a bit oversize - should be fine but not ideal

Better pics and history showing all the mods done is here

You only really need to remove them if you are going to have alot of passengers. Mine has never rubbed at the rear even with 3 of my dads mates, they are like 15 stone each...

Yeah - typical of halfrauds but at the end of the day with 45's your speedo is gonna be a little bit out and you are gonna have a little less clearance but I'd be very surprised if 50 mm drop caused any rubbing

Try to get progressive lowering springs if you can if you go for something other than a top quality brand/manufacturer - your back will thank you when you are old and grey  say 28
