The ride will be harsher if you get new shocks also remember, people say that shocks will suffer if you just use springs but to be honest they are going to be fine unless you are driving like a f*****g t1t.

Ive never heard of shocks f*****g with 30-50mm drop...

a shock and spring setup that are designed for each other will have much better handling characteristics than your shocks and lowered springs. it will be designed to dampen for that length of spring, so you will find it won't crash through bumps as much, and over rough roads it'll be a lot more planted rather than jumping all over the place.

I've always wanted to get better dampers, but just haven't put the money into my car yet....
