Used warranty
Anyone ever had a clutch replaced under vw used car warranty?
I had the clutch cable replaced and of course the obligitary pedal box recall during the 12 month warranty period. Both went fine and the car drives just perfick apart from the odd bit of crunching when rushing reverse gear (note to self: don't rush reverse gear!).
I haven't had the whole lot replaced though, just the cable.

Already had the cable done on friday but didn't cure the problem. The gears weren't crunching but the pedal was a bit stiff so they stripped it down but needs clutch. The warranty company are saying its wear and tear but as we all know it's a fault so i don't think i should be paying for it!!!!
Can't believe after all the problems that gti owners have had with the clutch that vw customer care just ignore it!!
Would like to hear if anyone has had a clutch under used warranty

clutch and fly wheel
when i 1st bought my car 4 and a half years ago brand new within a week of having the car i had 2 have a new flywheel put in my car and i have put a new clutch in aswell
How did you mange this? I've just taken my less than 2 wk old owned GTi to have its passenger elec window and clutch looked at. They tell me i need a new window lifter, clutch cable and clutch assembly! Then they say the warranty covers none of this as it's wear and tear but i've only driven the car for about 9 days!blackgti2000 wrote:Warranty ended up paying for the clutch
My GTi is 2 weeks old and the HT leads are split temp fix by VW care, called warentee, they also mentioned wear and tear, then said I have had the car less then a week at that time, and I mentioned 30 day money back gurantee, they quickly changed there mind.owenjt wrote:How did you mange this? Its booked in for next weekend plus some other little things I want them to address.
Too be honest the sales guy is pretty good to me making sure warentee dont p*** me abt, he even picked me up to collect my car and thats a used car not a new 1.....
My clutch is hard but not that hard, how do u know that the pedal box issue has been address, as it goes I have the previous owners details, may give him a call, as am the sec owner.
Altho they stated it has been sorted I find the clutch slightly harder then me previous mk4 polo.....
So how do u tell

Yes i intend to mention the 30 day thing if i get hassle. And i know the pedal box has been done as there is a recall note in the service book and i phoned vw customer care to double check.Reeyad wrote:My GTi is 2 weeks old and the HT leads are split temp fix by VW care, called warentee, they also mentioned wear and tear, then said I have had the car less then a week at that time, and I mentioned 30 day money back gurantee, they quickly changed there mind.

Ok so after a day of speaking to both my local vw dealership and the one i bought the car from i'm still no further.
They tell me the items are not covered by the warranty. The dealer i bought the car from has told me i can either take the car back to them for them to have a look at or they can give me a refund (the dealer is more than a 6 hour return journey).
Why one vw dealer will tell me something different from another i don't know. They claim the clutch was ok or they would've replaced it before i bought.
This is the last thing i needed

The only problem is that it's a 3 hour journey. So i either have to take a day off work or drive down on a Saturday. I can't see them fixing it the same day so i'd have to stay over. Plus what if they disagree with my local vw? I just don't see why my local dealer can't fix it, they're all part of the same group after all.
It seems either way i'm out of pocket!
