cus it starts to sound like a impreza or an old american chevvy. You can hear the exhaust spluttering and stuff, not the best of sounds i dont think. Plus when you put the foot down it goes knowhere!

sounds like you and me got the same problem. My car went into the garage today and will be looked at tomorrow. Should find out tomorrow what the problem is and will post it back here. My polo is a 01 plate with 43k miles, before me it had one 'careful' lady owner, noticed it wasnt running smooth when i test drove it thought it might of just been needing a thrash and some super unleaded. Driving home was fun till i got back into the town and it started being a dick. Cant wait to get it back !

it will be HT leads or spark plugs mate, sounds like its just a missfire. if your polo is ever running rough change the leads and stick with the standard VW ones (josh told me this and it WORKS)

I have been told that it could also be something to do with the ignition coil!! Spoke to someone who knows someone at Volkswagen and apparently it was a common fault on the GTI. I will report back soon!!

you were right, just got off the phone to guy at the garage and he said it was the leads, something to do with the resistance in them.So he has ordered new ones also the lambada(?) sensor had gone so they are all gonna be fitted tomorrow!!

Clees I mailed u b4 about the lack of acceleration problem. Just been reading wats happening with yours and blackies cars. Mine is in the same situation and has been like this for a year. I just my my ht leads a few days ago and noticed a bit of a difference.....but when i drove it for over an hour today it became slack again. When i spoke to the guy at vw he said it might be that the valves are sticking and that means ££££££.

To be honest there seems to be so many problems with these polo gti. I think its time for me to sell and get an audi s3 :)
