Hm, not sure what to make of the phone call i had with them. Short and a bit messed up ... doh

Either they haven't any polo gearboxes "out" at the moment ... or they do... or, there are plenty of the cars in the yard, on the ground, but they're still complete. (third options the most likely? so maybe i should budget time to get the thing out myself ... or find out how much they'd charge for the privelege of taking home a ready-removed example)

Worth taking a looksee i guess, though i might call again tomorrow and try to have my head straight when I do. And do it on a phone where we can both hear each other.

they're not really a scrap agent, they just let you wander round and take bits off.

I got a 1275 engine from a Metro, and loads of Polo bits. They might remove something if you asked, but I think it'd cost....

They do have a 'store' but its for little bits, they tend to leave major mechanical components in the cars....

hm, in that case might just have a browse "tomorrow" (ok, today..) and see if its worth going back after dropping the 4-speed out for practice.

anyone know if there's any easy (ie quick & dirty, no need to hunt internet or remember VIN codes etc) way to tell between a 1.0 and 1.3?
