Aye. Full throttle changing up from 2nd to third with only about 20 miles on my new Toyos - dropped it into third, lifted the clutch/planted my foot again and weeeeeeeeeeee  then d'oh!

Recently not so much, I'm trying to look after my tyres so trying my best to pull off nicely from junctions/traffic lights at the moment

You have the advantage of a TT engine though, that's cheating

 true

the fact i had federal tyres on the front didnt help wheelspin either, they have to be the worst tyre i have ever had,

at high speed they were very unstable to the point of almost losing control suddenly (twice)

and thru the corners they were worse than remoulds

i had wheelspin in 3rd not long ago, was going down a county lane near my house and just lost grip, needless to say i was surprised.

think the tyres on the front two wheels and Champiro GT, anyone heard of these....any good. were on the car when i bought it and were brand new so didn't see the point in replacing them, have Toyo Proxie TI-S on the back.

What is that? In a bit more detail, I've never heard that expression before.

wheel hop is when ya engine feels like its about to come thru the bulk head under wheel spin

the tyres get a just enough grip to chuck the engine around under the bonnet

most mk4 golfs get wheel hop bad untill they uprate the lower gear box mount (sometimes called the dog bone mount )

ohhh, well I changed into 2nd at that point got a bit of spin in that and a bit of an angle, all of that up to 40mph, I don't really like speeding so went straight from 2nd to 4th and pottered along down the road :D .
