my good experience of the day......Mk1 near Derby

Post by minis84 »

Had a good experience today!

Driving down the A50 between the M1 J24 and the Alvaston turn off, I came up behind a smart looking blue 1979 'T' Mk 1 doing about 65 in the inside lane. So I took this pic:

Anyway, thought I'd wave at the driver, being a fellow Polo driver and all, so I started to overtake, and she was gorgeous! Early 20's, really nice smile, dead friendly too cos she waved and smiled as I drove past!

So as we went round the sweeping bend towards Derby I slowed right down to about 50, and let her past, but I only managed to get this pic then:

She smiled and waved again as she overtook, she had an amazing smile!

Oh well, if she's on this forum that'd be cool, just to say hi! I might see her again one day! The car was pretty nice too, pale blue, and great nick, you can see from the pics.

Just thought I'd share it with you! :D

I think i recognise that one from following it for a short distance in Bournemouth! So she sure gets around in it..
Plate seems familiar, with the strange font and all. Unfortunatley the only pic i have is a really crap phonecam one.

Score there, though, mate - two great bods in one! :D

and you might be able to get her name and address with a backhander to the DVLA

aye that was me, though i'm usually on porka. That's my riot van, love it to bits. 1979, same family owned til I got it, 40K. Not changing much apart from some slammed suspension and old skool msw 13" rims. I might give it a overhaul and a 1272 coupe s lump next year though. As you can see, it ain't that fast! And while it is farily mint, there's still bits and bobs that bug me.

I also have another mk1 which is a project, already converted to a 1.3 lump and with a ragtop. Watch out for it at next years shows. And come to the east midlands meet at Shardlow Marina, 16th Oct arrive 5-6pm.

ah did steve get a look at the ragtop as well then? So it wasnt a 1.5 afterall. You should put the derby engine in this one as its 60hp, same as the mk1 GT. 8)

nah it's a small block from a 82-84 coupe S we think. Reckon I'm going to keep it in there as it's been rebuilt and then put the Derby engine in the riot van when the project is finished. Thanks to Steve I finally know what it is!

Pah, 1.4 isn't hardcore enough.

1.5 is where it's at
