Upgrade for my Wife - Advice Please

Post by SEPaul »

Hi All

Yes I've been here before - when the UK-MkIVs Golf people had a broken web site! I have a MkIV Golf, as you will see in my sig-pic. :D

But I am here now because I would like some advice / opinions on Polos please.

My wife has a 1.3CL 6N Polo, 1995 M-registered, which has done approx 66,000 miles.
There are no significant problems, and I am now considering buying her another car. I am looking at the "facelift" of this model ( 6N2 I think ? ).

It MUST be 5-door, MUST have a Sunroof, and MUST have central locking and electric front windows.
Colour is not too important, and I think the 1.4 petrol engine will be best for her.

Perhaps the "Match" model meets these requirements.

Please will you Polo People let me have your thoughts ( good & bad ) as I need to know what models / engines / specs to look out for.

My budget is £4k-£5k. What do you think I will get for that kind of money?

Thanks
Paul

I hope I am in the correct Forum - please move if necessary .....

Hi

you could probably get a very nice 6n2 polo for the sort of money you've got there!
definately try for an SE model-they are 16valve, they come with the 14"alloys, electric fronts, sunroof or some have a/c, and they are pretty nippy! :D
did test drive an 8v before i got my 16valver SE -but i found it slow, even though it was a 1.4!!! seems like the extra 8v makes all the difference!
hope this gives you some ideas!!

4-5k you can get a mk5 polo with few mods. Great condition. 14-15" alloys- low milleage
Car drives well (not too fast)-so you're wife will be able to handle it!
I seen few on autotrader as my mae bought one few days ago... So yeah!
Good luck in the car hunt!! :)

It must be a moderator thing, because I thought the same thing! :D

www.autotrader.co.uk and www.preloved.co.uk normally bring up good results. Don't forget about eBay! :D
