problems with my 1.6 kinda cutting out at speed!!

Well my battery died yesterday, no big deal right - so this morning i jump started it and got a new battery - before and after that when i get to around 3000 to 4000 rpm in 3rd, 4th or 5th there is a sudden jold and a complete loss of power - only sorted after a couple of pumps on the accelerator or dropping down a gear

- bit nervy when over taking at 75!

anyone experienced this or have any clues to whats happened?
