Hey

One side of the catch isnt opening and i cant get into the box!

I dont really wanna have to smash it open lol

Cheers

Nah im afraid your fooked there mate. If it was me, id take the glove box out (well easy) cut a hole in the back, (then take all the stuff out of it), then unscrew the clip the little hooks latch onto inside the box.

Then, after youve fixed the lock, just glue the bit you cut out of the back of the box back on and your sorted!

just crack the old one open with some gental persuasion (cro-bar) and fit one that you get from a scrap yard. then you have to change the locks over. That is quite easy.

maybe you could try and drill out the catch on the front??

you'll probly get the front of the glove box from local scrappy for about a tenner!

personally id just get me fingers behind it and pull it open!

also, I hope you don't leave your stereo face in the glovebox constantly when your not using the headunit - first place a thief will look

Well
Iv done it... at last!
I managed to get my fingers in the top and then used a screwdriver to force the catch open...the catch broke eventually and the door is open! :D BUT obviously now doesnt stay shut :(

Im all for using brute force to fix things but I dont recommend getting your fingers in gap and pulling hard tho... I almost pulled the box and dash out!

£11 from VW not too bad for VW but probably get one from breakers.

Stereo face was safer than ever whilst stuck in my glovebox

I'd just like to resurect this thread just to say that this situation happened to me tonight

The lock was totally buggered, just pulled the damn box open....and now just like above, it won't stay shut

But what happens now? As they're lockable with your key, will I have to get another glovebox with its own key especially for it? Cause the lock on mine is well and truely....faulty

You can just buy the lock part on its own, from your dealer, coded to fit your key

That my good man, is awesome :D Thank you !

Although I will need a lock part...and the actual box lid now. Kinda both a bit on the broke side of things.

I did enjoy it though
