Petrol consumption / oxygen sensor

Post by bigandygal »

i seem to be using up a lot of petrol at the moment and having run Vag-Com on the car, it is reading fault code : 17511 Oxygen sensor heating B1S1 performance too low.

Its a 1.2 12v 65.

Any ideas ppl??

Cheers

this might sound stupid but have you considored the price of fuel going up?

if you put £10s worth in at say 80p per litre, you may get 100miles
but now at 95p a litre you're not going to get the same number of litres from your £10 therefore not getting as many miles.

thats why i work of the number of litres i put in when working out consumption as that is not a variable unlike the price of the fuel

and also its winter, (well up here is for us mate!) more cold starts would use more fuel, and if u drive fast when its first started up, u can actaully see the needle go down

from a full tank (about £40 of super) i get between 230 and 280 miles from my 1.4 16v. it seems to have got worse as the temp has dropped. hope its only the cold weather and not something more serious!

no i know it aint because of the price of petrol (have taken that into consideration) and i always keep it below 3k revs when its cold.

its a wierd 1.
