Check Light....

Post by kapur »

Well, out of the blue, the car decides to stick on the yellow check light on the dash.

My father took the car to a local garage, who were charging £32 just to read the engine diagnostics alone. Now i'm pretty sure i can pick up the OBDII cable off eBay for that price.

But, the garage mentioned how they'd have to look at the engine and take it apart and all after the diagnostic test just to fix something when they don't even know whats wrong. :?

That to side. How do i reset the check light on the dash? The car recently had a new lambda sensor fitted by VW.

I swear, since we've got this car, we've had nothing but hassle hassle and guess what, MORE HASSLE!

I'm begining to hate VW's! What happened to superior build quality? :x

Could someone help me out please?

Shall i pick up an OBDII cable off eBay?

We haven't taken the car to VW yet since they'll probably over-charge us an arm and a leg like the b*stards they are!

Sometimes its a one off, so after a number of restarts the light will go out itself. SKPang electronics sells ODB2 cables if you need, and also the VAG COM cable and you can use the shareware version to read the codes. You can also reset it with that.

Mine keeps throwing up an implausible signal fault on the MAP sensor, no one has been able to fix it. I checked the sender myself and it seems to work ok, so its a bit of a mystery.
